Match Report

Our first game away v Bridon Ropes was definitely a game for neutrals . A eight goal thriller see the strikers enjoy some early scoring in the season . The game started off with us being on top , moving the ball quickly and turning there back lines . We continued to Press and with 10 minutes on the clock we could of been 2-0 up . We then got awarded a penalty which our usual top penalty finisher duffy stood up to take , unfortunately this time it didn't get converted but never the less a great strike and save . The next 15 minutes of the half started to even out and Bridon had some great chances , hitting the bar and making Keeper Justin pull of some great saves . They again could of reversed the start for us and should of been 3-0 up . Bridon did eventually score and made it 1-0 . With only ten minutes left it look like we would go into the break behind but we managed to step up the pace again and clawed one back through a great left footed chip into the far top side of the goal by club captain brad Marshall to make it 1-1 . We managed to take advantage of the heads dropped form Bridon and soon after a lovely ball through both defenders put Michael through to make it 2-1 before the half . A good half by the boys but defensively very lucky in that 15 minute period so we knew we had to tighten up second half .

Second half manager Ricky told the players the most vulnerable time is the first 5-10 minutes of the half as Bridon would be looking to come at us to equalise. This was the case and within five minutes we had conceded two sloppy goals to be behind once again . Heads dropped and players started to play out of position and loose shape and we then conceded a fourth . Manager Tompkins was furious after a positive first half team talk then comceding three goals in twenty minutes . The game looked dead but our boys looked positive still and with a few changes it looked like we may still have a lease of life .. from a dead ball situation striker Emmanuel managed to squeeze a shot past three defenders to slot home bottom hand corner to make it 4-3 . We then kicked into life with only five minutes left looking for a equaliser which to great belief we squeezed it home to make it 4-4.

overall a decent result in the end and showed we would fight until the final whistle . Bridon are a good side and finished well last year , so great to come away from home with a point .
